Gemini Enterprise Connectors: SharePoint, Slack, Jira and More

Wiktor Jurek

A Gemini Enterprise connector links Gemini to a system your business already runs, such as SharePoint, Salesforce, or Jira, so it can search and act on that data directly.

Not sure if that’s a business-critical requirement? Imagine yourself in this scenario:

The business lost a stack of enterprise deals last quarter. Nobody's quite sure why. Not ideal.

Your teams need to come up with a solution quickly, but the answer is scattered across hundreds of closed-lost notes in Salesforce and months of Slack conversations between reps, nobody has time to read through both.

So they ask Gemini Enterprise instead. With the Salesforce and Slack connectors set up, it reads every closed-lost note alongside the informal chats reps were having about those same deals, the comments that never made it into a formal CRM field. It spots the pattern: a third of prospects walked because you didn't integrate with the one tool they couldn't live without, and reps had been flagging exactly that in Slack for months before it showed up in the numbers. Your team gets the answer in minutes instead of days, and finds out the signal was there all along, just never connected.

This connecting layer also powers no-code AI agents within Gemini, enabling you to automate actions - freeing up your people to work on strategic priorities, not admin.

However, we’re getting ahead of ourselves…

What Is an AI Connector?

A connector is the link between an AI engine (in this case, Gemini Enterprise) and another system: SharePoint, Salesforce, Jira, whatever you run.

Once it's live, Gemini Enterprise can search that system the way a logged-in employee would. Give it the right connector, and it can act too: raise a ticket, update a record, send a message.

In the same way you wouldn’t onboard a new starter and give them no access to your systems, AI thrives on this valuable context.

Gemini Enterprise’s Zero-Trust Governance

Anything that can see everything AND act on what it finds needs supervision. Guardrails need to be in place so AI scales safely.

Most businesses already have AI running through them, but entirely ungoverned: a personal ChatGPT account here, a rogue automation tool wired into the CRM there, with IT completely in the dark and tracking none of it. In fact, in Q1 of 2025, companies averaged 254 AI applications in use, with many of these believed to be “shadow channels”.

However, if you establish these connections using Gemini Enterprise, you get one governed system instead of many siloed invisible ones. For instance:

  • Whatever someone can already see in SharePoint or Jira is exactly what shows up in Gemini too, tied into your company's existing login system rather than a separate list Gemini keeps itself.

  • Google Cloud draws a boundary around where your company data is allowed to move, so even something with valid access inside that boundary can't send data somewhere outside it.

  • Your security team can hold the actual keys used to lock up your data, rather than just trusting Google to look after them.

  • Administrators have explicit settings to control your data retention policy.

The 13 Connectors Everyone Asks About

Gemini Enterprise has 40+ connectors (with many more in the pipeline), but these are the ones we get asked about constantly:

Communications: Microsoft Teams, Slack, Outlook, Gmail

Productivity: Microsoft Sharepoint, Jira, Google Drive, Monday.com, Confluence

Database / CRM: ServiceNow, Salesforce, Hubspot, BigQuery

However, before you start looking at implementing connectors, there are some things to consider:

  1. Some connectors let Gemini look, not touch (read vs write). Others let it act, raise a ticket, or update a record.

  2. Every connector needs your system admin (Microsoft, Salesforce, Atlassian, whoever) to grant access on their side, and your Gemini Enterprise admin to build the connector in Google Cloud. Name both people before you start.

Communication Connectors

The Gemini Enterprise Microsoft Teams Connector

This connector supports both read and write, including sending messages to channels and chats. It reads on behalf of the person asking, not the whole company at once, which is the sensible default and worth keeping. Your Microsoft admin needs to formally approve the permissions, not just request them, so ensure this step is completed.

The Gemini Enterprise Slack Connector

This connector supports both read and write. Slack is searched live each time someone asks, rather than storing a copy, and Gemini can also send and schedule messages. It's worth a quick word with legal as well as IT before switching this on, as Gemini rewrites the question before running the search, and that rewrite can pull in context from earlier in the conversation. This means a human checkpoint is removed from this process.

The Gemini Enterprise Outlook Connector

This reads email and calendar by default. However, if you switch on more than reading, it can send emails and update calendar invites on someone's behalf, too.

The Gemini Enterprise Gmail Connector

This connector supports both read and write, including sending emails on the user's behalf once actions are approved. It's built into Google Workspace already, so there's nothing extra to set up on the connector side. One real thing to check first: Gmail data only connects if your organisation has Google Workspace "smart features" enabled: many companies turn these off for privacy reasons, so this can be a blocker. A Workspace admin can also separately disable Gemini's access to Workspace data entirely.

Productivity Connectors

The Gemini Enterprise SharePoint Connector

This connector supports both read and write, including creating folders, adding lists, uploading and downloading documents, and adding, checking in, checking out, renaming and moving pages and documents. Your Microsoft admin handles setup. If you want it limited to specific sites rather than the whole company - and most will - say so upfront. Scoping it that way needs an extra manual step beyond the standard permission request.

The Gemini Enterprise Jira Connector

This connector covers both Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center, from plain search up to letting Gemini create issues and comments. Jira Cloud needs a second, separate add-on installed purely so Gemini can match the right person to the right account.

The Gemini Enterprise Google Drive Connector

The simplest connector here, since Drive already sits inside your Workspace environment in the same way as Gmail. It's mostly read-only, though it now also supports copying files and folders. However, it only searches documents owned by someone within your domain. Files sitting in a personal Google account, or owned by someone outside the company, won't show up even if they're shared with people inside it, unless they're moved to a shared drive or ownership is transferred to someone in the domain.

The Gemini Enterprise Monday.com Connector

This connector supports both read and write, including creating and updating actions, such as workspaces, boards, and groups.

The Gemini Enterprise Confluence Connector

This connector supports both read and write, covering both Confluence Cloud and Confluence Data Center, including creating pages and uploading and downloading attachments. If your company keeps email addresses private in Confluence, you'll need a small extra add-on installed so Gemini can match names to the right person correctly. If everyone's email is already visible internally, you can skip that step.

Database Connectors

The Gemini Enterprise ServiceNow Connector

Gemini can create and update tickets, as well as read them. That being said, someone might see a ticket inside ServiceNow, but not be able to find it through Gemini, since Gemini only shows tickets that person is personally tied to, not just anyone with general viewing rights.

The Gemini Enterprise Salesforce Connector

Gemini reads CRM records and, if you approve it, writes to them too. You should check your Salesforce sharing settings before setup, as records set to private by default can end up invisible to the connector entirely. This becomes missing data rather than being flagged as an error.

The Gemini Enterprise HubSpot Connector

This connector is read-only, covering contacts, companies, and deals. The good news is HubSpot uses a Google-managed login, so there's no separate app your team needs to build. Gemini Enterprise also searches HubSpot live each time someone asks.

The Gemini Enterprise BigQuery Connector

This brings your structured data and commercial figures directly into Gemini. Just note that BigQuery's built-in permissions don't automatically sync. Unless your team manually sets up data filters during the connection process, anyone with Gemini access will be able to see the imported reports. Treat this connector as an "all-or-nothing" view until IT configures custom access controls.

What About MCP and Custom Connectors?

What about the legacy or bespoke software you run that isn't on Google's list? You have two routes:

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard: build a connection once, and any model that speaks the standard can reuse it. This is useful because Google's connector list will never cover everything you run. However, this does require developer input.

Custom connectors are for when there are no pre-built connectors available and no MCP option fits. Your data is pulled, converted into a format Gemini understands - including who's allowed to see what - then synced continuously or in batches. Nothing starts until your external identities are mapped to Gemini's permission model.
